The 7th edition of the New World Flamenco Festival is called Somos Flamencos, meaning, "We are Flamencos," a proud proclamation on behalf of the extraordinary talent from Spain who will be participating this year - and, a hint of the style of this year's productions. Somos Flamencos is also the title of the first show in this year's Festival. Compañia Somos Flamencos will premier a new show here, which will be readied for a national tour the following year. Compañia Antonio El Pipa returns with the West Coast premiere of his acclaimed show De Tablao. This year the festival will also include showings of the film Gypsy Caravan which includes a featured performance by Antonio El Pipa.

Having always attracted capacity audiences, the Festival, moreover, has grown in stature through the years. Yaelisa, the Festival's artistic director, has worked magic in attracting Spain's top dancers, singers and musicians and in designing thoughtful and compelling programming.

Spanning the years, festival themes and productions have explored a variety of different styles, extending from Cadiz to Sevilla: the significance of flamenco family dynasties; a showcase of the latest young talent making their marks; and even the mastery of the bata de cola, the long dress that can sometimes weigh nearly as much as the dancer.

Douglas C. Rankin, the Festival's producer, remarked: "Yaelisa has done all of this with remarkable flair and ease, providing audiences with evening after evening of exhilarating performances. I am confident from my experience in working with her on this year's offerings that we can expect more great things."
